FT, Newcastle

There were three enquiries, one into the Company's tax return and one into the return of each director. All were concluded with no amendments required.

AG, Dundee

The enquiry was soon over and HMRC had to repay me £800 which apparently I did not owe.

PA, East Grinstead

HMRC enquired into four tax years. I had been to several other accountants and none of them were able to help me. Three of the enquiries are now closed with no amendments and one is under appeal. Before this, Mr Clarke made HMRC re-open a previous enquiry which they said was closed. They had to repay me over £20,000 plus interest - what a wonderful start! Mr Clarke is now making a late claim for loss relief going back several years and hopes to recover a further £7,500 in overpaid tax.

RA, Crawley

HMRC held the belief that I had not declared all my income for the year under enquiry despite the fact that Mr Clarke had clearly demonstrated that this was not so. He then made an application before the Commissioners for an order that they close the enquiry. This was granted and HMRC had to repay me £2,500 in overpaid tax.
